Partnership

State Hospitals

AlohaCare contributed more than $2 million to help State Hospitals recruit and retain much needed Neighbor Island doctors.

West Hawaii Community Health Center and Koolauloa Community Health Center

AlohaCare helped fund the start-up of these new community health centers in Kona, on the Big Island and North Shore, Oahu. Both Kona and the North Shore are isolated communities that needed to increase their capacity to serve more people.

Genius of Aging

AlohaCare partnered with television station KGMB, to develop a year-long media campaign with nationally known gerontologist, Dr. Bill Thomas, founder of the Eden Alternative. Dr. Thomas’ principles of healthy aging are captured in morning news programs and :30 second TV vinettes covering a wide variety of topics from fall prevention, how to complete an advance directive, to becoming a life long learner. AlohaCare adopted many of Dr. Thomas’ healthy aging principles when designing its Medicare plans.

Hawaii Covering Kids

AlohaCare provides $30,000 each year to Hawaii Covering Kids which helps identify, enroll and retain uninsured, eligible children and youth in health insurance programs. We have worked together with Hawaii Covering Kids to ensure that Hawaii’s keiki get covered and have access to health care.

Maui Adult Day Care Centers

AlohaCare provided more than $30,000 in multi-year grants to the Maui Adult Day Care Center to launch and operate an innovative Sun Downing Program to help individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of related dementia and their family members have specialized respite care during the hours when people with Alzheimer’s often feel most agitate. This program provides exercise, special activities, personal care services, mental stimulating activities and entertainment.

Hawaii’s Community Health Centers

AlohaCare’s history dates back to 1994 when we were founded by Hawaii’s Community Health Centers. Today, AlohaCare works closely with the Community Health Centers to support the needs of the underserved, medically fragile members of our community. We’re governed by a Board of Directors that include representatives from many of Hawaii’s Community Health Centers.
