Public Policy

Hawaii has a history of innovative health care policies and approaches that have influenced health care at the national level. Our Prepaid Health Care Act was the first to set the standards for health benefits for workers. The medical home model, now an element of national health care reform, was conceived and developed by a local pediatrician. Like Hawaii, AlohaCare is shaped by its unique history. Founded by local community health centers to manage the health care of Hawaii’s low-income and underserved residents, AlohaCare is the best steward of tax-payers’ money; we operate the most efficiently and effectively, providing top-level quality care at the lowest cost per beneficiary. AlohaCare participates in the legislative process as a voice for our 70,000 members, offering our expertise in serving Hawaii’s most medically fragile populations and working toward a healthier Hawaii for us all.
